Win!

Today I slept in, read, and then went out with the family/"school" shopping. Parentheses around school because after years of shopping for the perfect back to school outfits, I said "fuck it!" because really, who am I trying to impress? What does it matter if I have new clothes for the first week? I very well know, even though I won't admit it,that the first week could go great and then I run out of new clothes to wear. I've started to learn that you don't have to have new clothes and a lot of money to have great style. It just takes buying quality pieces or just ones that you can wear over and over. Following trends is fun and all, but I just can't afford it.So from now on, I just want to develop a style I can really call my own. And If trendy pieces are a part of it,so be it!

Anyway, now that I'm done with ranting, I managed to buy the madison biker boots from Payless!!! I'm serious when I say that I have been thinking day in and day out about these babies! I know, I know,it's not good to valuse material things like this, but I REALLY wanted these!Ok,I'll calm down hehe, but yes, these are a lot more reasonably priced then the Jeffree campbell one's that are just as forfeous but way out of my budget at $200. When I saw this $50 Alice+Olivia pair on nitrolicious , I knew it was destiny for us to meet. They are 100x cuter than in the picture,by the way.

As for the books, this is what I'm reading right now. Annie Leibowitz's book,Annie Leibowitz at Work,is great and so is Sara Gruen's "Water For Elephants". The first offers alot of insight on Annie's life as a photographer and on certain photographs she has taken throughout the years. At the end she has a Q&A section as well as an equipment section,so people can find out the tools that a great artist uses. I've learned quite a bit from this book! As for the latter, I find it hard to put down because Sara Gruen has written such an addicting novel- I find it hard to imagine details in a book sometimes, especially when every little thing is described! But with this novel, I can picture everything so clearly and it has a great plot while not being confusing at all. As for Slaughterhouse Five, it's a summer reading book.Certainly interesting but not quite my cup of tea. Almost finished though and then I have to write up a summary. Ah, I love reading...

I'm Feeling This

I'm not a makeup person in the slightest sense. When I'm not being lazy and I'm going out,Sometimes I'll wear some mascara and a bit a eyeliner. It's not that I don't love makeup, I do! If I could, I'd have a look for everyday of the week. Why the makeup thing won't work for me? Well, putting it on takes time and I'm usually the one to skimp on time getting ready in order to sleep an extra fifteen minutes, which gives me what? umm, maybe 20 minutes to get ready? And that's from waking up to leaving the house.

The other thing is that I'm always touching my face, leaning on it,getting checks pinched,mock-slapped,etc which doesn't help if I want the makeup to stay...up...on my face.Needless to say I love this little editorial containing the precious faces of Chanel Iman, Sessilee Lopez, Jourdan Dunn, and Arelenis Sosa.

I now have the urge to run to the drugstore and buy a ton of makeup and slap it all on,giving my self the clown effect. Ok,maybe not but this school year might see me buying some makeup and actually making time to have a beauty routine.

Being all natural is great but sometimes it can be boring and I thrive of the concept of colorrr,or is it colourrr?!Well, off to be more productive,I just couldn't resist posting these!

Fall River

went to a distant relative's house where all she had for lighting was this vertical fixture...I decided to experiment and came up with some dramatically lit portraits of my brother and sister.Enough to make someone scream?maybe.maybe not.

DANNIJO

I'm a jewelry person. Clothes I love you but every time I leave a store it's almost never you but some kind of accessory in my hand. I was getting my shebreathes.com fix and came across DANNIJO jewelry. I kinda almost died. They have everything I want in a piece of jewelry: Color,Metal, and a lot of layers. I'm not into intricate, tiny little baubles. I like statement pieces, pieces that you could spot a mile away in admiration,or maybe disgust for some people. These do the trick, besides the totallyunaffordableforhighschoolstudent price tag of 420-595.Dollars,that is.But if I had the dough, one of these would totally be around my neck.Well, I guess this calls for a DIY attempt to be put on the waiting list of DIY ish I want to do.
